Frequently asked questions

How do I get started?

You can schedule a 15-minute free consultation here. If you wish to forgo the free consultation, please call or complete the contact form to schedule an appointment. Paperwork will then be sent electronically via secure portal. Once the completed paperwork is returned, your appointment will be scheduled. Established clients will be invited to join the secure portal and will be able to schedule appointments online.

Do you offer in person sessions?

Currently I am offering teletherapy and “walk and talk” therapy. Teletherapy is conducted through a secure portal. Internet connectivity and video cameras are necessary. Once we are comfortable with one another, we can utilize walk and talk therapy. We can meet at the beach, a park, a garden, the options are limitless. I believe therapy does not need to be restricted to the four walls of an office. Nature can inspire us to be our best selves. (If walking is problematic, we can sit).

What is a session like?

After the evaluation, sessions will be spent developing trust and establishing a rapport. We will identify your needs/goals and together, in a safe environment, we will work towards those goals. Sometimes goals change, or new issues surface. Our sessions will always be a space of validation and non-judgmental support.

How long will I need therapy?

Nothing is set in stone. Every person is unique and works at their own pace. Your personal development does not occur on a set schedule. We will check in regularly to evaluate your progress to make sure therapy is moving at a pace that feels right for you.

Are you in-network with my insurance?

I now partner with Headway to accept Aetna for my clients in Florida. Otherwise, I do not accept any insurance. I find my time is better spent serving my clients. I would much rather get to know you and focus on your needs than justify your need for service to the insurance company. You are not a diagnosis code that can be treated in a certain number of sessions defined by a flip chart.

What is a Good Faith Estimate and the No Surprises Act?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges. Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises. You will receive a Good Faith Estimate after completing the free 15 minute consultation and/or at least one day prior to your appointment.
